Winter Diamonds Wrap Crochet Pattern

Maker
12/20/2019

Hi maker! My name is Claire Goodale and I’m the designer, maker, and crochet blogger behind the blog E’Claire Makery. I am so excited to be back here on The Hook Nook blog again to share my newest pattern the Winter Diamonds Wrap with you! When I got an email from Jessica’s assistant, Jennifer, asking me if I’d be interested in a secret project I was so surprised. Of course I said yes without even knowing what it was going to be! When they told me that I was to be one of the designers who got to work with the new line of The Hook Nook products in Joann stores, I practically jumped up and down! I would have never thought over a year ago when I was first featured on here that I would be chosen for something like this. I’m so ecstatic to share the design I created with the new Hook Nook yarn!

The Winter Diamonds Wrap is a chunky blanket wrap that features one of my favorite stitches, bobbles. It’s such a versatile piece that you can wear it as a scarf, a shawl, or a wrap! Made with the new Hook Nook Yummy yarn, it’s one of the softest and coziest scarves I’ve ever made. Let me tell you, this yarn really is yummy! You’re going to want to make everything in this yarn once it’s in stores. Two of my favorite techniques to use on my blog are tapestry and intarsia crochet. This pattern is a great beginner pattern to either of those techniques!  I’m so excited to see all of the fun color combinations you’re going to create with this design!

Pattern Notes

Want to avoid crochet mistakes while crocheting this pattern? Learn how to avoid them with my post on my blog: 10 Mistakes Common Mistakes Crocheters Make and How to Avoid Them.

This pattern uses US crochet stitch terminology.

This pattern is worked flat.

The pattern involves color changes using either tapestry crochet or intarsia crochet. Experience with color work is recommended, but if you're a beginner to tapestry or intarsia crochet then you can totally do it!

If you've never done tapestry crochet before, I've created a beginner's guide to tapestry crochet that shows you how to do it. See the written and photo tutorial at The Beginner's Guide to Tapestry Crochet.

If you’ve never done intarsia crochet before, check out my tutorial at: The Beginner’s Guide to Intarsia Crochet.

I recommend reading through the pattern completely before beginning just to make sure that you understand everything in the pattern.

Color changes happy in the middle of the rows in this pattern. The color changes are indicated in the written pattern by a new color in parentheses (for example: (MC) hdc 1, (SC) hdc 2)

Tassels (Optional)

If you’d like to add some tassels to your wrap, here’s how you can make them. Cut 12” strands of yarn in one of the colors. You’ll need 4 strands per tassel, and I did about 16 tassels per end of the wrap. Once you’ve cut enough strands, attach each tassel to the ends of the wrap by taking 4 yarn strands, pulling the middle of the strands through the wrap to create a “u” shape, and then pull the ends of the strands through the “u”. Repeat this for the rest of your tassels.

I hope you love your new _ wrap! I know it’s going to keep you cozy all winter long. If you love this pattern, be sure to check out all of my free patterns on my blog at www.eclairemakery.com, or in my Etsy and Ravelry stores! If you make one of my designs, be sure to tag me on Instagram @eclairemakery or with the hashtag #eclairemakery. I can’t wait to see what you make!

Happy stitching,

~ Claire
