KPC Yarn Review

Education/Tips
10/24/2019

Friends, I want to introduce you to a company that I am so beyond proud to have part of the fiber community. I know that many of you primarily use commercially-available products, but sometimes that creative experience can be even further heightened when choosing high quality products with stories and inspiration to match.

I first learned about KPC Yarn from my personal creative inspiration, Jacqui Fink, after she began collaborating with them on their #Knitwell collection. I have always been so absolutely fascinated and enthralled by Jacqui’s larger-than-life installations in venues around the world. The textural beauty, the complexity of shapes and large-scale vision and uniqueness has been something that has encouraged me to think bigger for the last several years. If you have never heard of Jacqui Fink, I highly suggest you take a peek at what this outstanding creative is capable of - you’ll leave feeling empowered yourself.

KPC Yarn launched in 2014 and have become known for their exceptional quality of their fibers, the extensive color range and their sustainable and careful practices that positively impact the world around them. Their yarns have such a beautifully soft and smooth finish  which is achieved through careful selection of fibers from their own trusted sheep, cotton and cashmere farms. To achieve these high quality fibers, they start with their focus on care for the environment for their sheep and goats, based in Australia. They also place importance on being able to spin and dye all of their fleece and pay attention to where each ball of wool is wound and packaged.

Sustainability and overall quality are at the top of KPC Yarn’s focus and it is entirely clear when knowing that they have been Oeko-tex 100 certified and are able to guarantee that all dyes used are metal-free and skin-friendly. They apply the test to every substance used in the dyeing process to ensure that no hazardous chemicals with allergic potential are present.

Here are some of the yarn varieties that KPC Yarn currently offers:

-Novomerino : 100% merino wool (available in 4ply, DK, Aran and Chunky)

-Gossyp : 100% certified organic cotton (available in 4ply, DK, and Chunky)

-Glencoul : 70% merino wool, 30% cotton (available in 4ply, DK, and Chunky)

-Cashmere : 100% cashmere (available in Lace, 4ply, and DK)

-Lovat : 92% cotton, 5% cashmere, 3% silk (available only in DK)

Each type of yarn that KPC offers comes in a wide range of gorgeously pigmented colors to really allow you to customize your project. In addition to the the thoughtful color options, each ball is packaged with a ribbon to help you hold your ball together between projects and includes a label containing all necessary information, keeping record of the product, to allow reorder to be that much easier. There is even space on the tag to write your own message and use as a gift tag!

In addition to working with the famed Jacqui Fink, KPC Yarn also works with several other global designers and collaborators including:

-Julie Gibbs

-Molla Mills

-Etienne Ferrére

-Robyn Hicks

-Meredith Gaston

-Teresa Lim

In addition to fine yarn, KPC Yarn also offers additional products to enhance your making experience such as fabric labels, project supplies, tote bags, project bags, and even premium packaging for special occasions and gift giving.

If you have been wanting to try a new fiber to enhance your making experience, I would love for you to try some KPC Yarn! Personally, I feel like the handle is extraordinary and so luxuriously elevated, making the creative processes that much more meaningful. If you would like to try it, you can use code THN10 on the KPC Yarn shop site (click here!) for 10% off all regular priced yarn products only through Dec 31, 2019 (Rules & Conditions: Discount code only applies to US & Canada shipping address, one time use only, cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts or offers, discount excludes all Box Sets and Kits).
