Fur-osty Scarf Crochet Pattern

Hey, friends!!

Ok, kids are back in school which means Halloween is soon which means Thanksgiving is soon which means Christmas is nearly here. Right?! Well, at least for me, this makes me so excited for all of the delicious bulky yarns to be running through my fingers and finished makes cozying up against my cheek during those chilly days.

I’m one of those people who are almost ALWAYS cold so during the cooler months, bundling up with cozy and comfy clothing is my FAVORITE. Living in the PNW, it’s chilly most months I'd have to say are like “April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket” (name that movie reference!). And hat/scarf season? Yeah, you can totally do that for like five months of the year and it’s the best thing in the world. Seriously.

And I don’t know about you, but faux fur just SPEAKS TO ME as someone who is obsessed with texture. It’s just so soft, warm and comforting. Lion Brand recently came out with their new Go For Faux Thick & Quick yarn and, guys… it’s literally life. The color options are absolutely beautiful and it works up so incredibly well.

I’m so excited about this project I just made, guys.. Probably one of my FAVORITE scarves I’ve ever made. Between the scrumptious yarn texture and using a beast of a 25mm crochet hook, the Fur-osty Scarf is not only a project that leads to a beautiful piece, but it’s also just SOOOO much fun! I think I was able to make the whole scarf in about an hour so that’s always great and satisfying. Hahaha!

Feelin’ the FOMO? Good thing I’ve got the pattern for you to make your very own! Scroll down for the FREE crochet pattern!

NOTES :

CH 1 does not count as a stitch through entirety of pattern.

We will be working our HDC stitches in the 3rd loop, also known as the Camel Stitch. Never done this stitch before? Don’t worry, boo. I got you.

HOW TO DO THE CAMEL STITCH :

The Camel Stitch is essentially identical to half double crochet. To create a camel stitch, you will work half double crochet stitches as normal, but just in a different area of the previous row’s stich. Instead of working your stitches through both loops on the top of the stitch (the “V”), you can find the third loop on the wrong side of the stitch, just below the “V”. By working in this loop, it pushes the “V” forward, imitating knit stitches.

BEANIE PATTERN :

CH 7

  1. Starting in 2nd CH from hook, HDC in each CH across. (6)
  2. CH 1, turn. HDC in each st across. (6)
  3. CH 1, turn. HDC in the 3rd loop across. (6)
  4. Repeat Step 3 until your piece measures ?”. Finish off, weave in ends.
  5. Using your pom pom maker, create two pom poms and tails approximately 6” long.
  6. Grabbing one short end of the scarf, fold both corners to connect. Using the tails of one pom pom, tie the corners together attaching the pom. Knot and weave in ends. Repeat for other short end of scarf.

I hope you feel all the scrumptious coziness with your own Fur-osty Scarf! I really, REALLY enjoyed working with Lion Brand Go For Faux Thick & Quick. But, honestly, that 25mm hook is just so fun!
