DIY Crochet Velvet Scrunchies Pattern Tutorial

WOWZA!!

I just posted on Instagram how I had kind of gotten "in the zone" and busted out SEVERAL crocheted scrunchies using velvet yarn and was overwhelmed with interest for the pattern - so let's GET TO IT!!

I love the velvet yarn because it's so soft, cozy and texturally/aesthetically delicious. In the comments of my Instagram post, my dear friend Ceilidh from @love_meknots had mentioned she also loves using faux fur yarn which I thought was another wonderful idea!!! I chose to use Bernat Velvet yarn because I have SO much on hand it comes in a wide variety of colors. I purchase my Bernat Velvet yarn both on Amazon and at my local JOANN Store.

I personally love the Goody Ouchless hair ties (bought off of Amazon) and use those for my scrunchies. They tend to last a long while, don't cause pain when I wear them for hours at a time and are very affordable.

**Want to skip the actual crocheting of your own velvet scrunchies?! Don't worry - you can purchase ready-to-ship scrunchies in my online ship!**

Ready for the pattern?! Let's do this!

DIY CROCHET VELVET SCRUNCHIE PATTERN:

Materials:

Key:

CH : chain

st(s) : stitch(es)

Sl st : slip stitch

SC : single crochet

HDC : half double crochet

HDCINC : half double crochet increase

Pattern:

  1. Sl st yarn onto hair tie.
  2. CH 1, 45 SC around hair tie, Sl st to first SC. (Note: you will need to "scoot" the sts to fit all 45 SC onto the hair tie)
  3. CH 1, HDCINC in first st, (HDC, HDCINC) in next two sts. Repeat ( ) around, Sl st to first HDC. Finish off, weave in ends.

Voila! That's it! Easy peesy, lemon squeezy. Just a warning from someone who's been in there, just know that you have been warned that once you start, it's hard to stop - haha!! I could make these ALL DAY LONG!! Stay tuned, I'm hoping to bring some multi-color kit options to the shop soon! But don't forget, you can ALWAYS get ready-to-ship scrunchies in my online shop. :)

Happy crafting!

xo,

Jessica
