Etta's Shawl Knitting Pattern by Makenzie Alvarez

Maker

Hello my fellow fiber friends, I am Makenzie the designer behind Hanks And Needles. I have a true passion for designing a wide range of knitting patterns, especially ones filled with cables and lace. As much as I love the more detailed and complex designs I find a true beauty in simplicity that is pleasing to the eye and interesting to create.

This shawl was inspired by the first shawl I ever loved, I inherited it from my mom. It is nothing fancy just a simple shawl with texture and fringe. Not too long ago I noticed a small tag in corner, it was my great-grandmothers name. I never knew she made it, let alone knitted. Upon this new discovery I was inspired to design my own version in her memory.

Etta’s Shawl is a quick oversized triangle shawl that is perfect for any skill level, with an easy to memorize repeat. Create it in one color or multiple to create a piece as unique and beautiful as you are.

With your working yarn knit 10 rows, there will be 3 garter ridges.
Turn work 90 degrees and pick up and knit 1 st in the middle of each garter ridge (3 sts picked up).
Turn your work 90 degrees again and carefully unzip the crochet chain and place the 3 cast on sts on your left needle, and knit those 3 sts.
